CHAIR SIMON READ CONGRATULATES COMMONWEALTH GAMES ATHLETES AND COACHES ON BEHALF OF JUDO AUSTRALIA BOARD
Dear athletes,
Firstly, congratulations to every member of the Australian Judo Team on an outstanding Commonwealth Games campaign.
To our athletes, coaches, support staff and team management – you have done Australia proud. The commitment, resilience and professionalism displayed throughout the competition were a credit to each of you and to our sport.
Unfortunately, I was unable to be in Glasgow as I had the privilege of walking my daughter down the aisle at her wedding here in Perth. While family had to come first on this occasion, I followed the results and progress as closely as I could over the three days, celebrating every success from home.
Whether you stood on the podium, achieved a personal best, or gained invaluable international experience, you have all played a part in strengthening Australian judo.
Success at this level is never achieved alone, and I want to particularly acknowledge our coaches and support staff for the countless hours invested behind the scenes.
On behalf of the Judo Australia Board, thank you for representing our country with pride and for demonstrating the values that make judo so special.
Congratulations once again – Australia is incredibly proud of you all.
