The ID Network has invited Australian Adaptive Judo players and coaches to attend a three-day study camp in Japan next February – CLICK to submit your Expression of Interest now!
Taking place at the Nihon Bunka University’s Hachioji Campus, the study camp will ask participants to consider “What is Judo” by examining Jigoro Kano’s original intentions and how they prove everyone has a place in Judo, and can improve themselves through Judo practice.
Participants will have the opportunity to study Kata as a vehicle to wider understanding of Judo itself, and also undertake focused sessions on Osae-Waza and Nage-Waze techniques. The camp will close with an international judo friendly: the third edition of the Ninagawa Teruka Cup.
Melissa Avgoulas, chair of Judo Australia’s Adaptive Judo Advisory Committee, urged all Adaptive Judo participants, supporters and coaches to apply for this opportunity.

The three day camp (Saturday 21 February 2026 to Monday, 23 February 2026) is a self-funded trip with flights and accommodation to be booked and paid for by the participants. This grants the freedom necessary to maximise the trip to Japan as a wider social and cultural experience.
