Judo Australia has called for Expressions of Interest in fighting three upcoming tournaments taking place across Taipei, Hong Kong and Macau. Eligibility is tight, but all players who qualify are urged to apply before June 5th to take advantage of this opportunity to test their skills in an international context.
The 2026 Taipei Asian Judo Open is first up on the calendar, taking place over the weekend of 11-12 July in Chinese Taipei. Qualifying athletes are invited to join our Senior National Team to contest this event, and will be support by the Senior National Coaches throughout. Apply before Friday, June 5th: TAIPEI EOI.
Judo Australia invites Expressions of Interest from senior and final-year Junior athletes who are looking to gain international experience but are not currently categorised or part of the National Performance Centre program.
This is a self-funded event and while athletes can book their own flights, official accommodation bookings must be completed by Judo Australia. Applicants must be Australian citizens and hold a current Australian passport, be in the top four of their division on the Senior National Points Table, and have won a medal at the 2025 National Championships and/or at a 2026 National Event Series event.
They must hold a current IJF Card, and be a financial member of Judo Australia through one of our state organisations. Applicants will be required to confirm their acceptance of Judo Australia policies and must not have by their acts or omissions brought themselves, JA, CombatAUS or the Australian Team into disrespute or censure.
Younger athletes will have the opportunity to test themselves as part of an Asian tour (18-26 July) spanning two Cadet and Junior Asian Cup events in Hong Kong and Macau. In between the two, the team will participate in an international training camp.
The Hong Kong Cadet Asian Cup and Hong Kong Junior Asian Cup takes place over the weekend of 18-19 July, with the athletes then travelling to Macau to participate in a training camp, then contest the Macau Cadet Asian Cup and Macau Junior Asian Cup over 25-26 of July.
Eligible athletes will be at least 2kyu (blue belt) and have won at least 3 medals at a National Event Series event since (and including) the 2025 National Championships. You must have a history of supporting national programs (such a training camps and competition where possible) and have signed the current JA Team Member Agreement.
You will be an Australian citizen (or have permission from the IJF to represent Australia), and hold a current Australian passport; as well as holding an valid IJF ID card, and being a financial member of Judo Australia through our state organisations.
