Judo Australia is implementing a new National Digital Grading System to track, record and recognise belt progression across the sport — from white belts through to Dan grades.
This important initiative will transition clubs to online record-keeping before the end of September 2026, strengthening our national framework by creating a transparent, consistent and modern grading pathway for all judoka, from grassroots to High Dan grades.
Our online grading system will also reduce the administrative burden for Clubs, and improve the Judo experience for all members, clubs and state associations.
Implementation Through States and Clubs
The system will be implemented in partnership with our State Associations and Clubs, ensuring local ownership and practical, needs-based delivery. This collaborative approach will support consistent national standards while maintaining strong state and club engagement in the grading process.
What the System Will Deliver
The new grading framework will:
- Establish a centralised digital record of grading progression for all members, creating a single source of truth.
- Link grading records directly to verified active membership status.
- Automate certificate generation for belt progression.
- Introduce structured approval processes — with state-level oversight for grades below First Dan and national oversight for Dan grades.
- Integrate competition results and grading progression into one member profile to better reflect the Judo journey
- Provide members with a dashboard to track progress and milestones achieved.
- Reduce manual administration through streamlined digital processes.
- Align grading systems with broader national membership and competition platforms.
