Kata exponents worldwide will gather in Sarajevo to demonstrate their skills. Judo Australia’s Kata Committee is now inviting athletes to submit their EOIs to represent Australia in kata, and also welcoming Judges to officiate. Download the

Athletes seeking to represent Australia in kata should familiarise themselves with the Selection Criteria (
here) and complete the following EOI: (
click ) before 19 June, 2026.
Athletes must be Australian citizens or have IJF authorisation to compete for Australia. Other criteria require they:
- hold a minimum green belt for U18 competitors, brown belt for U21, and black belt for seniors
- be able to self-fund all costs related to this competition (including travel and accommodation)
- and be a financial member of Judo Australia/affiliate states and have no outstanding debt with the organisation
Selection will be undertaken and announced by 30 June, 2026.
The Kata Committee is also seeking IJF qualified Kata Judges to nominate for officiating duties in Sarajevo. Details are outlined in Selection Criteria document as linked above, and judges are also required to nominate by 19 June, with a view to selection by 30 June.

There is also an opportunity for OJU-certified Kata Judges to sit for the IJF certification exam immediately prior to the Kata World Championships on September 24 at 9am. Applications to sit this exam must be approved by the Judo Australia Kata Committee, and the Oceania Judo Union Kata Commission, and should be submitted via the Kata Judges EOI linked above.
