Integrity and the Judo Moral Code
What is sport integrity?
Sport is an Australian way of life. It brings people together, regardless of any differences in language, ability, culture and beliefs, and provides physical, social and economic benefits.
For those reasons, it is critical that we keep Judo safe and fair, for everyone who participates.
Threats to sports integrity include things like illicit drug use, doping, competition manipulation and behaviours that impact on people’s positive experience of sport, such as discrimination or abuse.
Integrity in sport means that athletes, supporters and fans can participate and celebrate sport, confident in the knowledge that they are part of a safe, fair and inclusive environment.
Judo Australia takes integrity seriously.
All our members and participants have an obligation to protect and maintain the integrity of sport, as well as the health and wellbeing of people who participate. Judo Australia works closely with Sport Integrity Australia, the national agency established to protect sport against integrity threats. Judo Australia, which brings together the eight member-state judo organisations in Australia, is in turn a member of the International Judo Federation, and the global judo community thought to be more than 10 million strong. Judoka worldwide are guided and inspired by the Judo Moral Code.
Judo Moral Code
The Judo Moral Code sets forth eight core principles: Respect, Courtesy, Courage, Friendship, Honesty, Honour, Humility, and Self-Control. National Integrity Framework
The National Integrity Framework is a suite of polices which set out rules for unacceptable behaviour in our sport and how complaints about breaches of these rules are managed. Judo Australia has operated under the National Integrity Framework since our commencement date of 1 January 2022.
Judo Australia is committed to ensuring the safety and wellbeing of all Children/Young People that are involved in our sport. Our policies and procedures seek to address risks to Child safety and to establish Child-safe Culture and practices.
- This Policy is part of Judo Australia’s proactive and preventative approach to upholding its commitment to the safety, wellbeing, participation and empowerment of all Children and Young People who access Judo.
- This Policy seeks to ensure that everyone involved in Judo is aware of their rights and responsibilities in relation to Children and Young People.

- This Policy seeks to ensure that everyone involved in Judo is aware of their rights and responsibilities.
- This Policy sets out the standards of behaviour expected of those involved in Judo and the behaviours that are not acceptable.
The purpose of this Policy is to provide a framework to:
- Address and deter any unlawful distribution and use of illegal drugs in connection with Judo
- Aim to reduce the harm caused by illegal drugs to Relevant Persons and the broader community
- Ensure that appropriate qualified personnel are appointed to provide science and medicine services to athletes within Judo; and
- Ensure that injections are only administered to athletes within Judo as part of appropriate medical treatment.
This Policy prescribes prohibited conduct which constitutes a breach, as well as offences which must be reported to Judo Australia.
Through this Policy, Judo Australia aims to ensure that its core values, good reputation and positive behaviours and attitudes are maintained.
Judo Australia Competition Manipulation and Sport Gambling Policy
The Complaints, Disputes and Discipline Policy has been designed to ensure sport integrity related complaints are dealt with efficiently and effectively and that all involved in Judo have confidence that prohibited conduct will be managed via the most appropriate resolution and discipline mechanism.
The Australian National Anti-Doping Policy reflects the World Anti-Doping Code and amendments to Australian Anti-Doping legislation. The purpose of the Australian National Anti-Doping Policy is to have a single and consistent set of anti-doping rules across all sports in Australia.

The purpose of the Code of Conduct is to outline the standards of behaviour expected from all members, participants, and stakeholders involved in the sport. It promotes a culture of respect, integrity, fairness, and responsibility by clearly defining acceptable conduct and providing guidance on how individuals are expected to interact within the judo community and beyond.
The Social Media Policy sets clear expectations for how members engage on digital platforms. It aims to protect the reputation of the sport, its participants, and the broader judo community by encouraging respectful, responsible, and appropriate online behaviour. The policy also outlines the consequences of misconduct and provides a framework for addressing issues when they arise.

Breaches of Integrity Policies
All alleged breaches in relation to our National Integrity Framework and any associated integrity policies will be managed under Judo Australia’s Complaints, Disputes, and Discipline Policy.
