From white belt to black and beyond – grading is at the core of progression in judo, not only providing a structured system for coaches to follow, but also visible recognition of experience, achievement and growth.
As the International Judo Federation introduces major changes to grading worldwide, Judo Australia’s National Grading Committee is seeking new members to help reshape Australia’s grading system.

These initiatives will impact every judoka in every club, Australia-wide. It is important work that requires knowledgeable, committed judoka passionate about the sport at every level.
If you are a coach, referee or long-time judoka with a knowledge of grading in the Club environment as well as at state level, we need your input!
Please complete our Expression of Interest to become a member of the National Grading Committee, and play your part in improving the standards, integrity and administration of Australia’s grading system.
Applications close on 20 February, 2026.
