Your Nationals checklist – Coach education, Club forums, Randori Camp, J-GIRLS Nationals Takeover and more!

Are you ready for the busiest and brightest weekend on the Australian judo calendar? Our National Championships are not just about crowning our champions – they also offer our best opportunity of the year to work with our Coaches and Club leaders to develop our understanding of how to grow and lead Judo in Australia.

FRIDAY, JUNE 5th –

4.15pm – Coaches briefing – Deepali Mistry and Lubo Petr lead the refereeing team to update Coaches on the key interpretations referees will be applying in competition on Saturday and Sunday. White gi is recommended but not essential to attend this session being held in the warm up mat area.

5pm – LA28 Olympic Qualification Information Seminar – Judo Australia’s GM of Pathways & Performance, Maria Pekli, and National Head Coach, Daniel Kelly, will take athletes and coaches through the key points presented in the recently released LA28 Olympic Qualification System documentation, available HERE.

6pm – Club Forum@Nationals (Session 1) – Club leaders are invited to join Judo Australia for dinner as we take you through key initiatives about to transform the Judo landscape in Australia. From September, all Clubs will play an essential role in building a National Digital Grading System, and this is your chance to get onboard early. Also on the agenda are items such as the National Mat Audit, lessons from our Membership Campaign, and an update on the Coaching Accreditation Framework and Shane’s work visiting Clubs and dojos around the country. 8.30pm – Club Forum@Nationals (Session 2) – repeating the session as above, for those with kata commitments. (Please RSVP – dinner provided).

SATURDAY – JUNE 6th

11am – Commonwealth Games Team Ceremony – After Cadets and before the competition for Juniors, gather in the Podium area to celebrate our Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games Team. We will welcome Damian Brown, Deputy Chef-de-Mission of the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games to formally announce the team, and present elements of the official travelling uniform. Australia’s 2026 mascot – Borobi – will join us for photos and fun!

MONDAY – JUNE 8th

9-11am, 4-6pm: National Randori Camp – Day one of two intensive days of training. Registration is still open HERE.

11.30am – J-GIRL Takeover@Nationals! Female judoka are welcomed to join the J-Girls and take over the mats for judo fun and fellowship. FREE to J-Girls and Judo Australia members. Register HERE.

TUESDAY – JUNE 9th

9-11am, 3-5pm: National Randori Camp, Day two.
