A new term of the IJF Academy’s Undergraduate Certificate as a Judo Instructor is now enrolling, and Judo Australia is welcoming Expressions of Interest from Australian judoka keen to pursue this essential semester-long course.
Successful students will join Australia’s coaching elite – such as recently graduated Olympian Aoife Coughlan – in a small pool of internationally accredited coaches.
This course – compulsory for all coaches wishing to support high performance athletes in IJF competitions, and from 2026, all International referees – delivers theory units online, then requires a practical component to complete. This may need to be undertaken somewhere outside of Australia, and the IJF Academy will notify students of opportunities to do this.
Candidates must apply via Judo Australia, who will nominate them to the IJF Academy and pay all fees before invoicing candidates directly. The cost is E900, approximately $1550 AUD.
The IJF Academy offers the online+practical course in two intakes each year. The first semester for 2026 starts on Monday, March 2, and finishes in July. Please ensure your submit your application via the EOI (HERE) by February 20.
