Referee excellence: Lubo Petr bound for Paris 2024

Lubomir Petr has been named as one of 15 referees from around the world set to preside over Judo at the Paris Olympiad. With this third nomination, he becomes our most honoured Olympic referee.

Deepali Mistry, of Judo Australia Referee's Committee, said the nomination paid tribute to the hard work and dedication Lubo has demonstrated to the sport of Judo.

"It's necessary for our referees to keep up with the IJF tour and consistently perform at an elite level. We are incredibly proud and a third consecutive Olympic nomination is extraordinary news," Deepali said.

"We want to congratulate Lubo on this achievement and wish him all the best in his time at the Olympics."

Judo Australia chief executive, Beck Hamilton, added her congratulations.

"We are grateful for every single one of our referees, and Lubo is a role model for what Australian referees can achieve. From local and state events to the running of the National Event Series, Nationals and now the Olympics - Australia's judo family can be proud our referees are well trained, up-to-date and up there with the best in the world," Beck said.
