COACHES: DELIVER JUDO IN SCHOOLS!
The Sporting Schools program offers Australian schools generous grants to deliver sport to students during class time. Judo Australia is proud to offer our Judo4Kids program to school students via Sporting Schools.

Launched in 2015, the familiar Sporting Schools website is currently undergoing a major upgrade and will move to a brand new portal from April 2024. Judo Clubs and Coaches must upload their details directly to the portal for schools to be able to select their services.
Sporting Schools has introduced new terms and conditions each participant must agree to before going live on the portal, therefore Judo Australia cannot register Providers or Coaches directly – you must do this yourselves. Registrations are open now!
REGISTER YOURSELF AS AN ENDORSED PROVIDER

As an Endorsed Provider, you might be Club, dojo or gym that can offer a range of services. Some Endorsed Providers may offer several martial arts – judo and BJJ, for example, or Crossfit classes. But to register as a Judo Provider, you must be a member of Judo Australia, and have at least one certified Judo Coach ready to deliver Judo4Kids to schools who select Judo.
REGISTER YOURSELF AS A JUDO COACH

Coaches who hold the appropriate coaching certification, Working with Children (or state equivalent) check and are available in school hours to deliver Judo4Kids can register directly with Judo Australia or with an Endorsed Provider (most likely to be the Club you train with or coach at.) You must be a personal member of Judo Australia to offer classes through Sporting Schools.

WHAT ELSE IS NEW?
To better serve our Judo clubs and coaches as we move into the new environment, Judo Australia has streamlined our processes to make it easier and safer for schools to choose Judo, and easier for Coaches to deliver Judo into schools.
Schools will choose from set-price Judo packages, and will be invoiced directly by Judo Australia. We will then pay coaches.

Currently, we offer the Judo4Kids package, aimed primarily at children in Years 3-6. Expertly designed to cater for all stages of physical, social and cognitive development, this program can be run for 4 to 8 weeks (as per the school's preference.)
The program is designed to provide children of all abilities the opportunity to have a successful first experience of Judo in the school environment. Each lesson involves the participants learning various judo terminology in the Japanese language and judo techniques and skills through integrated game play.

In the future, we plan develop a customised package for younger students, as well as Adaptive Judo and ParaJudo offerings. We will also offer a range of Add-Ons that will give the schools options to purchase judo mats, gis, and Australian judo team merchandise. A free E-book - coming soon - will encourage newcomers to Live the Code.

Only the Judo clubs, dojos and gyms that can demonstrate their Coaches hold the appropriate coaching certifications, Working with Children or state equivalent checks, and experience in working with young judoka - will be registered as Endorsed Providers for Judo. They must also be members of Judo Australia to ensure they are bound by our Child Safeguarding Policy.

Individual Judo Coaches can either register as Coaches working for a specific Endorsed Provider, or directly by choosing Judo Australia as their Endorsed Provider.
SPORTING SCHOOLS - A FAQ

HOW DO I REGISTER FOR THE PORTAL?

If you are a COACH, choose which Club, dojo, or other provider you wish to be associated with. Register as a coach HERE. You must hold a Working With Children check (or equivalent for your state or territory); have the appropriate Coaching Certification, and be at least 18 years old. You must also be a financial member of Judo Australia.

If you are a CLUB, DOJO or GYM that has an appropriately qualified Judo Coach on staff (as above) you can register as an Endorsed Provider HERE. You must agree to deliver Judo4Kids (or future JA-approved programs), be familiar with and indicate your adherence to Judo Australia's Safeguarding Children and Young People Policy, and be a financial Affiliate Member of Judo Australia.

WHEN DO I NEED TO REGISTER BY?

Registration is open now, and bookings for Term 2 open on April 10, 2024. Schools only receive their grants once they have booked a session - the sooner you are in the system and available to book, the better!

MY SCHOOL IS INTERESTED IN JUDO. WHAT NEXT?

Investigate Judo in the Sporting Schools portal HERE. Browse our Endorsed Providers and Judo Australia directly endorses coaches to see if someone close to you is available to deliver classes. You can contact them directly to discuss, or call or email Judo Australia: jnunan@ausjudo.com.au

HOW MUCH WILL JUDO SESSIONS COST?

Judo Australia charges a set price of $200 per session delivered, plus a $200 administration fee. The total will vary depending on the number of classes booked, and the total number of sessions. If, for example, you have four classes undertaking six judo sessions each, your school will pay $5000 for your total of 24 sessions. Sporting Schools grants may not cover this in full, but schools that value the benefits of judo for enhancing learning and inclusion will top up from other funds.

HOW MUCH WILL COACHES BE PAID?

Judo Australia will pay Coaches/Endorsed Providers $180 per session delivered. If multiple coaches deliver the session, the payment is to be split between them. Coaches should invoice Judo Australia immediately on completion of the booked sessions.

WHO CAN COACH?

Judo Australia requires our Sporting Schools coaches to have achieved 'Sensei Judo' accreditation within the Judo Australia Coaching Accreditation Framework. This ensures that you have undertaken the appropriate Child Safeguarding education required to teach Judo in schools. Coaches must also be at least 18 years of age, hold a minimum of a Senior Blue Belt in Judo, have secured the appropriate Working With Children Check for your state, and be a financial member of Judo Australia.
