Statement from Judo Australia

8 July 2022

The Judo Australia Board is aware of concerns in the Judo community regarding the current selection process and high-performance program arrangements.

To address these concerns, the board has initiated a review of high-performance policies (including selection policies) and the high-performance structure, with the aim to ensure it continues to appropriately serve the Judo community and our elite athletes. The existing selection criteria will stay in place until the conclusion of the current round of selections in August for the Seniors Team.

As COVID lessens its impact on selection criteria, now is the opportunity to reset the expectations and standards as we approach Paris 2024.

These reviews will be done in conjunction with the development of the new Judo in Australia Strategy, with a focus on participation and pathways as we look towards a home Olympics in Brisbane in 2032.
