Australia is sending a team to the Hangzhou Asian Open, an IJF event with international ranking points up for grabs, and athletes keen to compete should APPLY NOW.
Judo Australia is inviting Expressions of Interest from Senior and high-level Junior judo athletes who would like to gain international experience but are not currently Categorised or part of the National Performance Centre.
To be eligible to compete in the Hangzhou Senior Asian Open, an athlete must satisfy the following requirements -
- be an Australian citizen and hold a current Australian passport
- be in the top 3 of the Senior National Points Table and have won a medal at the 2024 National Championships and/or an event from the 2025 National Event Series
- be at least a 1st dan (black belt)
- be a financial member of and be in good standing with Judo Australia and our high performance partner, the Combat Institute of Australia (CombatAUS)
- have signed the current Judo Australia Team Member Agreement
- hold a valid IJF membership/ID card
- have not by their actions or omissions brought themselves, JA, CombatAUS or the Australian National Judo Team into disrepute or censure.
This is a self-funded event. Tournament entries and official accommodation bookings must be completed by Judo Australia and will be invoiced with full payment required prior to departure. Flights must be booked and paid for by the athletes, but Judo Australia will suggest preferred flights to co-ordinate arrivals and transfers.
