An exciting new event for Cadets and Juniors has been added to the international judo calendar, swinging the spotlight to the Western Australian city of Mandurah.
The 2024 Mandurah Cadets and Juniors Oceania Cup will take place at the Mandurah Aquatic and Recreation Centre from May 4. Rising stars from around the world get the opportunity to battle it out for IJF global ranking points, while young Australian judoka will also earn National Ranking Points, a key contributor towards selection for other international events.
Entry is via your national judo body: Australian judoka and coaches should apply for entry and accreditation from HERE. Entry is $100 (AUD) per division, with cadets able to fight up into juniors if they feel confident doing so. (This tournament will not accept entries from Senior Boys or Senior Girls players.)
With weigh-in on May 4 and competition taking place on Sunday, May 5, the event will be followed by a three day training camp hosted by SouthWest Judo in nearby Port Kennedy (less than 30 minutes drive north of Mandurah.)
Mandurah is a small city about 90 minutes south of Perth city and Perth airport, and makes a magnificent gateway for the south western region known for its wildflowers, wine regions and spectacular beaches. Accommodation is plentiful, particularly along the spectacular beachfront and marina areas, but will book out fast.
