Meet your 2025 Development Squads

Judo Australia has named its 2025 Development Squads, with 48 young athletes now enrolled in the arduous Pathways program.

Development Squad members commit agree to meet specific strength and fitness goals, train judo six days a week, and attend a busy roster of national and international camps and competitions.

Maria Pekli, Judo Australia's General Manager of Performance and Pathways, welcomed the newest additions to the Cadet Development Squad.

"It can be a big step up for our first-time squad members who are getting the first taste of what it means to train and prepare to represent Australia in judo. Being on the Squad doesn't mean automatic selection to our touring teams, but it means you are firmly in contention - and we are making sure you are ready to step up to that level."

Maria pointed out the 24-strong Junior Development Squad was one of the largest ever, with many of last years Cadet Squad members appointed to the Junior Squad, and almost all of the existing Juniors renewing as they found found their feet in the Junior rankings.

A smaller Under 23 Squad reflects a number of impressive young athletes aging out of the group.
