My Eyes: A story of love, parenthood and Judo raising money to screen near you!

An Australian-made film is bringing the world of parajudo to an international audience and Australian judoka might be able to spot some familiar faces up on screen!

Director Angela How turned to Victorian judo clubs to provide authentic judo scenes for the film My Eyes, which premiered at the Gold Coast Film Festival last weekend and will show throughout May and June.

When a young girl is discovered to be losing her sight, her mother must find her birth father - a visually impaired judoka - to guide them both on a journey of resilience and courage.

Melbourne actor Tsu Chan Chambers plays the optometrist mother of the young star, and Mexico's Paralympic Gold Medallist, Eduardo Avila Sanchez, is her birth father in this inspiring judo story. The film has the potential to screen in cinemas around the country - but screenings must sell a specific number of tickets to proceed: BUY TICKETS HERE.

The uplifting message is reflected in the approach to screenings around the country: all tickets sold through the FanForce website include donations to charities for the visually impaired including Vision Australia, Guide Dogs Australia, Blind Sports Australia, and the peak international body for Blind Sports, IBSA.

Judo Australia looks forward to welcoming its own ParaJudo team back for the IBSA World Championships taking place next week in Kazakhstan, as well as welcoming Mr Avila Sanchez back to Australian soil to inspire judoka of all abililties towards excellence.
