Judo Australia (JA) have signed a 3-year deal with Major Events Gold Coast that will keep the Judo National Championships at the Gold Coast Sports and Leisure Centre through 2025.
November 16, 2022
The new agreement builds upon the success from the 2018 - 2022 Judo Australia National Championships (JANC) and provides JA with an opportunity to keep the marquee annual event at the host venue for the judo competition at the 2032 Brisbane Olympic Games.
Judo Australia CEO, Emma Taylor said that JA are thrilled to be partnering with Major Events Gold Coast again and is looking forward to continuing our partnership on the Gold Coast.
“Judo Australia are excited for the opportunity to return to the Gold Coast Sports and Leisure Centre for another 3-years and to grow our partnership with Major Events Gold Coast.”
“We are excited to bring our judo community together on the Gold Coast for another three year, a destination for great sport and to enjoy everything the Gold Coast has to offer. We could not think of a more fitting place to call home for the next three years than the future venue for our sport at the Brisbane 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games”
“What a great coup for our city and Judo Australia, having the certainty of a three-year partnership for this wonderful sport,’’ said Gold Coast Mayor Tom Tate.
“Hosting the national championships will help discover the next Aussie reps for Paris, Los Angeles and Brisbane. It’s our time to shine.’’
The four-day annual event is the culmination of the Judo Australia events calendar and will see our athletes, coaches, referees, staff, partners, volunteers and spectators participating each year with numbers expected to grow annually as JA move toward Brisbane 2032 Games.
The dates for each year’s event will be as follows:
2023 – June 9 – 12
2024 – June 7 – 10
2025 – June 6 – 9
